In most DBT Groups you will find they use a  Workbook and Homework sheets. Workbooks braek down and give examples of the skills and there use. The homework is to help you use the skils in daily life and learn the wisemind application of your skill so that later in life you have the approreat skill to handle each  situation and with practice of these skills weekly on your dairy card you can start using skils where needed almost with out thinking or forcing it to be a wisemind action. As with any life skill you may not always be able to use it and it may not always be affective! The idea is to cut down on the behaviors that is harmful or not healthy!

I have below 2 downloads they are the same Workbook one is Adobe Reader file and the other is just basic text. They are great to have as a referance and even to try and start learning from!  I hope they are helpful.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is an ancient Buddhist practice which is very relevant for life today. Mindfulness is a very simple concept.  Mindfulness  means paying attention in a particular way:  on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgementally.  This increases awareness, clarity and acceptance of our present-moment reality.

Mindfulness exercises ar a big part of DBT it is the one skill no matter what other skill you work on you will practice at each group. It is the nature of minds to wander and it is practice that helps keep if focused. Mindfullness2.pdf (998,3 kB)
